Children's Ministry

There is a great time waiting for all children at St Luke’s Miranda. In each of our groups children are encouraged to get to know and love Jesus in a place that is safe, fun and specifically designed for them. We have a number of groups which meet each week which include:

Homework Club (school years K-6)

SLABS (boys in years 2-5), BATTLERS (boys in year 6)

G4J (girls in years 2-5), BATTLERETTES (girls in year 6)

Playtime (0-5 years old)

Crèche (0-2 years old)

Preschool (3-5 years old)

Infants (school years K-2)

Primary (school years 3-5)

On Sunday mornings children in year 6 attend our Junior High Church service for students in years 6-9.

All of our programs come under the oversight of our Children’s Minister, Cameron Harte, and are lead by trained volunteers who have completed all the necessary Working with Children training and everyone over 18 years of age has provided the NSW Government Working with Children Number. We take the safety of the children who attend our programs very seriously and if you have any questions please contact the church office on 9540 4558.

Thursdays at St Luke's

Homework Club

Homework Club kicks off our Thursday afternoon/night children's groups.

Homework Club is for anyone in Kindergarten through to year 6. Homework Club provides space for children to enjoy spending time together and have a focused time of doing their homework with the help of volunteers each week. Each week a healthy afternoon tea is provided and there is time for games, activities and homework.

When: Children arrive after school from 3:30pm. Homework Club finishes at 5:00pm. All children can stay for dinner at 6pm and we supervise games between 5-6pm. Children who are in years 2-6 are then welcome to stay for our Thursday night programs. (During school term).

Donation: $1/child/week to cover the cost of materials and afternoon tea.

NOTE: All children need to complete a new registration form at the beginning of each year, or when they first join Homework Club. Download a registration form for Homework Club here and bring it along with you when you come.

For more information please contact the church office on 9540 4558.

Thursday nights are a great night for kids. SLABS and G4J are our two main Thursday night programs for children in years 2-5 (see below regarding BATTLERS and BATTLERETTES). SLABS is our boys group and G4J is our girls group. These groups cater for boys and girls and we have lots of fun playing games and learning about Jesus. Both SLABS and G4J provide engaging and exciting spaces where kids can have heaps of fun, hang with their friends and make new friends. We also spend time reading the Bible and learning about Jesus.

BATTLERS and BATTLERETTES are programs aimed specifically at year 6 children. At the start of each year children in year 6 begin in either SLABS or G4J. When there are enough year 6 children in the group we then begin the separate year 6 program. These programs aim to provide space for the year six kids to develop stronger relationships with each other and their leaders as they prepare to transition into our youth program the following year.

When: Thursday nights begin at 6:00pm where we have dinner together before the night programs. At 6:30 we split off into our own groups. We finish at 8:00pm. (During school term).

Donation: $4 for dinner, no donation for the other programs.

NOTE: All children need to complete a new registration form at the beginning of each year, or when they first join SLABS, G4J, BATTLERS, or BATTLERETTES. Click here to download a registration form.

For more information please contact the church office on 9540 4558.

Playtime is a space for parents to bring their children who are aged between 0-5 years old to have fun and connect with other parents and children. We do a number of activities including reading stories, singing songs, and doing craft. We meet in the 'Cottage' on the church grounds where we also have an outdoor playground. Morning tea is provided each week.

When: Friday mornings 10:00am-12:00noon

Donation: $20/family/term to cover the cost of materials and afternoon tea.

For more information please contact the church office on 9540 4558.

Sundays at St Luke's

All of our Sunday morning programs run in conjunction with our 10:15 Family Church service.

For more information please contact the church office on 9540 4558.

Creche (0-2 years old)

Babies and toddlers are looked after so that parents can attend church. We also have a parenting room at the rear of the church so that parents with children who are too young to be left in creche can sit with their children and still participate in the service.

Preschool (3-5 years old)

A fun preschool program with a Bible talk, songs, craft and games.

Infants (school years K-2) and Primary (school years 3-5)

We begin in church where we have a Kids Talk/Spot especially for them, after which they go out to their specific programs. In our infants and KOS programs kids will be taught the same things as their parents in church in an age appropriate method and style. They will have lots of fun playing games, hearing form the Bible and building strong relationships with each other.

Pupil Free Day Kids Clubs

Three times a year we hold a day long kids club for any one in years K-5 at school. These take place when NSW state schools have their pupil free days. They are held on the first day of Term 2, the first day of Term 3 and the last day of Term 4. In 2014 the dates will be the 28th of April, the 14th of July and the 18th of December.

More information about each of these days will be posted on the church website closer to the event.
